Our Approach
Mental Health Matters (MHM), Inc. is a privately owned mental health practice located in Broward County, FL. Our practice operates with the reality that health is wealth, and that total health is achieved when mental health is also prioritized. Like physical health, prioritizing mental health can lead to mental wellness that moves one from surviving to thriving. MHM emphasizes the importance of mental health and wellness across the lifespan, especially for minorities and other vulnerable, underserved populations. The MHM model of care incorporates Christian, faith-based, holistic, and collaborative approaches that aim to move clients towards their specific goal(s) and resolution(s) as soon as possible.
About Dr. Barbara Barrett
Dr. Barrett’s experience spans over 30-years and is built on a caring, holistic foundation. She is a doctorally prepared, board certified nurse practitioner, therapist, researcher, educator, and mental health consultant. She has provided services for Broward County’s Department of Juvenile Justice and various community mental health clinics in South Florida. Dr. Barrett is passionate about social change and community engagement and strives to make a difference. She is currently in private practice providing mental health services for individuals, groups, families and couples. She incorporates evidenced based therapeutic modalities, which includes Christian and faith-based therapy. She looks forward to meeting clients and discussing a plan of care that is tailored specifically to client's individual needs.
